Victorian Curriculum outcome : <\/b>Describe translations, reflections and rotations of two-dimensional shapes. Identify line and rotational symmetries<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Task description :<\/b> Students take three battleships designed in level E, plus 3 non-symmetrical battleships, and place them in one quadrant of the grid template. In the next quadrant, they reflect the shapes relative to their position in the original quadrant; in another, they rotate the shapes; and in the last, they translate the shapes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Assessment options : <\/b>Grid sheet filled out or digital equivalent<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Teacher notes : <\/b>This task needs level E to be completed first. Be aware that at this level, the grid is not a Cartesian plane, and students are not required to transform around an x or y axis. Students should assume that the ships stay in the same place in each quadrant, and then the transformations are applied to them.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
