Task description :<\/b>\u00a0Students design 5 backyards, made up of two squares, one inside the other. The area of the larger square can be calculated using difference of perfect squares. Students express each backyard as a factorised equation, quadratic equation and diagram. Include a sample area calculation for each.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Assessment options :\u00a0<\/b>Photographs of designs; digital versions of designs.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Teacher notes :\u00a0<\/b>Non-monic quadratic designs are much more challenging – ask students to incorporate some in their designs, for example, 9×2-25.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
